“It’s all good”!

We are happy to report great fishing top to bottom on all our waters!  This time of year, is super fun to fish because of the variety of insects you and the fish have to choose from.  These fish are feeding hard but what do they want today?  The Caddis are popping, PMDs are hatching, and we are coming into stonefly season.  There is A LOT of food coming down our tailwaters right now!

Grey Reef:  Flow 3,556 CFS.  The Reef is fishing great lately.  Fish are super buggy and actively on the feed.  We recommend fishing the faster riffles as a lot of these fish are suspended.  Leeches are taking fish, the “Leech and Chong” in rust and olive as well as the Majerus Sparkle leech in Natural and Black.  The fish still love the worm especially below government bridge.  Squirmy Worms with or without a bead in Purple, Red or Tan.  Our favorite bugs right now are the Crack back PMD, yellow sallies, mayhem midges in PMD, BWO and purple.  We have been seeing tons of caddis in the river.  Our favorite is the Rocky MTN Caddis in Cream or Rust.  This is also a great time to strip streamers!  Float long sections so you knock on more doors.  Sink tip lines to an articulated bug.  Thin Lizzy has been crushing as well as the Trusty rusty and the Kreelex. One more thing, this is also a great time of year to swing flies. As the fish move up in the riffles to eat bugs you can target them effectively with a swung fly!
