Spring fishing is showing its face on the North Platte & Big Horn rivers, and fishing has been SOLID! Warmer temps and longer daylight hours are waking things up, and we’re seeing productive waters! With the annual spring flush kicking off early ( on the N Platte ), the flows are currently stable. The water clarity is in great shape and even the lower water is providing us with excellent opportunities.
What’s Working?
Nymphing is still the name of the game. We are finding success running worms ( san juans, red annelids, squirmies ), midges ( black and grey Mayhems, Darth Baetis, zebra patters ) Leeches ( hot head or sparkle )
The streamer bite has been a hit the last couple of days with the cloud coverage. We’re loving the Kreelex and the baby gonga.
Shop Talk
We’re rolling into one of our favorite times of year – hungry fish, and that early spring energy. If you’ve been itching to get on the water, now’s your window!
