Grey Reef continues to fish exceptionally well, with healthy flows and plenty of opportunities for anglers willing to mix up their approach.
The biggest excitement right now is the towering trico hatches on the upper sections. Early mornings have been filled with clouds of tricos, and fish are beginning to key in on them. If you find rising fish, be prepared with a variety of triico patterns and light tippet – timing is everything during these short but exciting feeding windows.
Nymphing anglers continue to find consistent success with PMDs,, midge patterns, and rock worms.
Streamer fishing has been decent, especially during the low-light hours. We’re especially excited about two new custom patterns tied by John Majerus – the Ginger Two Hook Johnny and the Cowboy Joe. Both patterns have been producing aggressive eats from quality browns and rainbows and are quickly become guides favorites. Stop in the shop and check them out!
It’s a great time to be on the water! We recommend getting out early with the HOT temps. You can catch a whole days worth of fish before noon!
